Communications & Storage Controls
The Communications and Storage tabs control how data enters and leaves the Android device through cellular networks and physical ports. These settings are essential for devices that must be restricted to data-only use, or for environments where unauthorized data transfer via USB or external storage poses a security risk.
Communications Controls

Disable Outgoing Calls
Blocks the Android device's phone dialer from making any outgoing calls. This effectively converts a smartphone into a data-only device — useful for tablets or devices issued purely for app use, field data collection, or digital signage where voice calling is not required or appropriate for the use case.
Disable SMS
Prevents the Android device from sending or receiving text messages. Use this on corporate devices where SMS communication is not part of the approved workflow, or where data-only communication through managed apps is the required and approved standard.
Printing Policy
Controls whether printing is allowed on the Android device. When disabled, users cannot print documents, images, or other content through system print services or supported apps. This helps prevent sensitive data from being printed or shared physically.
Storage Controls
Disable Mounting Physical Media

Prevents the Android device from reading or writing to external SD cards or USB drives inserted into the device. This blocks unauthorized data extraction via removable storage — an important control for Android devices handling sensitive corporate information.
USB Transfer Controls
Define exactly how the USB port behaves when the Android device is connected to a computer. Select the option that best matches your organization's security requirements:
- Disallow USB Data Transfer — The most secure option. The USB port is restricted to charging only. No data of any kind can be transferred between the Android device and a connected computer. Recommended for all high-security deployments.
- Allow USB Data Transfer — Full access is enabled. The Android device can freely transfer any data to and from a connected computer via USB. Only use this where explicitly required for an approved workflow.
- Disallow USB File Transfer — Blocks the MTP and PTP file transfer protocols used for accessing device storage as a USB drive, but may allow other data types. A middle-ground option where some USB connectivity is needed without full file system access.
