App Deployment & Update Rules Overview
Updated on 5/5/2026 • 2 Minutes to read
While the Apps tab controls general installation permissions, the Install Apps section is where you define exactly which Android applications are delivered to each device assigned to this policy and how they are maintained over time. This is where your App Management catalog becomes a set of enforced deployment rules — determining which apps are mandatory, optional, forbidden, or required before the device can even be used.
What This Section Covers
- Accessing App Deployment Rules — How to open the Install Apps section within an Android policy.
- Installation Types — Configure whether each app is force-installed, pre-installed, blocked, made available, or required for device setup.
- Update Priorities — Control how and when individual Android apps receive updates from the Play Store — from immediate high-priority patches to 90-day postponed rollouts.
- Saving the Policy — How to save and confirm your app deployment configuration.
